The downstream product transformation of lignin depolymerization is of great interest in the production of high-value aromatic chemicals. However, this transformation is often impeded by chemical oxidation under harsh reaction conditions. In this study, we demonstrate that hypohalites generated in situ by the vanadium-containing chloroperoxidase from Curvularia inaequalis (CiVCPO) can halogenate various electron-rich and electron-poor phenol and phenolic acid substrates. Specifically, CiVCPO enabled decarboxylative halogenation, deformylative halogenation, halogenation, and direct oxidation reactions. The versatile transformation routes for the valorization of phenolic compounds showed up to 99% conversion and 99% selectivity, with a turnover number of 60,700 and a turnover frequency of 60 s-1 for CiVCPO. This study potentially expands the biocatalytic toolbox for lignin valorization.

Zhang is a research forester whose research focuses on the effect of forest management on long-term stand dynamics. By analyzing newer data with the archived long-term dataset collectively, he found that thinning both ponderosa pine and true fir stands reduced mortality while maintaining stand productivity. Other benefits by treating stand with lower density included significantly reducing hazardous fuels, increasing carbon sequestration, and enhancing health of residual trees and stand resilience to wildfires and biotic disturbances. A similar result was also found with competition control regardless of stand density in ponderosa pine. In addition, He also studied an impact of post-fire management regimes on carbon pools and forest restoration including assessing the rates of ecosystem carbon recovery. These results were extensively cited in the Environmental Assessment Documents in National Forests across northern California and by forest industries in their regional management strategies.

241784 Introduction: Although there are many treatment options for prostate cancer, radical prostatectomy is still the most effective treatment method and the first choice for early patients. However, maximum safe resection of prostate cancer lesions remains a major challenge. In order to preserve normal tissue and function as much as possible during surgery, more sensitive and accurate surgical boundary detection technology is needed. In this study, we developed a PET/near-infrared fluorescence (NIRF) dual-mode molecular probe, 68Ga-PSMA-IRDye800CW for accurate diagnosis and precise resection. Methods: PSMA-IRDye800CW was synthesized and labeled with 68Ga. The microPET imaging study was performed in 22Rv1 tumor model with 68Ga-PSMA-IRDye800CW at 0.5, 1 and 2 h post injection (p.i.). Fluorescence imaging study was conducted with the same model using PSMA-IRDye800CW at 1, 3, 8, 24 and 30 h p.i.. Results: PSMA-IRDye800CW was successfully synthesized with a molecular weight of 2270.6. The radiochemical purity of 68Ga-PSMA-IRDye800CW was greater than 97% after purification. In the PET imaging, the organs with the highest accumulation were kidneys and bladder. Tumors can be clearly visualized with the uptake of 5.62 ± 0.56, 7.02 ± 0.59 and 8.27 ± 0.42 ID%/g at 0.5, 1 and 2 h, respectively. This paper proposes a framework of using social media analytics to help study service quality. A case study was conducted to collect and analyze a data set which included nearly half million tweets related to two of the largest supermarkets in the United States: Walmart and Kmart. The results illustrate how businesses can leverage external open data to complement the traditional survey-based approaches in order to better understand and measure their service quality metrics by studying the online opinions of their customers.
